CALGARY, AB – Foothills WFC and FC return to home turf on Tuesday, June 17, for a League1 Alberta doubleheader against Callies United at Broadview Park. Both Foothills’ teams are coming off wins earlier this week. WFC is locked in a seesaw battle for top of the standings with Calgary Blizzard and FC is looking to regain ground, so wins Tuesday night are vital.

Fresh off a determined 1-0 win over Calgary Villains, WFC enters Tuesday’s match looking to build momentum and solidify their position atop the League1 Alberta table. Known for their organized play and attacking depth, Callies United sit in the middle of the standings and will be eager to pull off an upset on the road.
“We’ve been creating lots of good situations in the attacking areas of the field as well as opportunities to score,” said Head Coach Lee Tucker. “We have to continue to focus on our quality and begin to take advantage of the hard work the group is putting in.”
Key players to watch include Kendall Showers, who previously suited up for Callies in 2024, dynamic wide attacker Anneke Odinga, and forward Avril Jamieson, who continues to be a persistent threat for opposing backlines.
FC vs. Callied United– 7:30 p.m. Kickoff
Foothills FC will look to build on the momentum of their 6-0 win over the Villains, which showcased the team’s attacking firepower and improved cohesion. With only a few points separating several teams in the table, every match now carries added weight as the season heads toward the playoff push.
“With the return of our captain, Hafiz Mahjor, we’re ready to get back to our identity and brand of football that can help us keep collecting points in some tough upcoming matchups,” said Head Coach Connor Brady.
Brady notes that Callies present a well-coached, youthful squad with real attacking threats. “We’ll need to be sharp defensively to manage their strengths. Coming off a clean sheet, we’ve set a standard we want to maintain.”

About Foothills FC and WFC in League1 Alberta
League1 Alberta is the province of Alberta’s pro-am, standards-based senior league. It serves as a stepping stone between Alberta’s high-performance youth level, elite amateur, and professional levels. League1 Alberta aims to showcase and develop Canada’s future soccer stars, coaches, and match officials and is an official member of League1 Canada.
In 2023 (the League’s inaugural year), Foothills FC capped off a dominant season by finishing first in the regular standings and winning the championship final against St. Albert Impact. In 2024, FC delivered another strong campaign but fell just short of back-to-back titles, losing a hard-fought final to Edmonton Scottish. Despite the setback, the team’s resilience, adaptability, and commitment to excellence stood out. Player development and team cohesion continue to advance, with the club maintaining a sharp focus on the growth of both athletes and coaches, laying a strong foundation for an exciting 2025 season. The Foothills FC League1 Alberta team is coached by Connor Brady.
Foothills WFC competed in League1 Alberta in 2023 and 2024 as a development team for the Club’s Pro-Am program, which participated in the United Women’s Soccer League. During this time, our primary focus was on building our athletes’ skills and preparing them for higher levels of competition. Now, as we embrace new opportunities through the Northern Super League (NSL), we are setting our sights on dominating League1 Alberta in 2025. Our athletes are eager to showcase their growth, and we anticipate a strong season, fueled by ambition, talent, and preparation. The Foothills WFC League1 Alberta team is coached by Lee Tucker.
