The Foothills Way

The Calgary Foothills Soccer Club ("Foothills" or "The Club") was established in 1972 as a not for profit organization. Since then, we have introduced thousands of children to "the beautiful game," and started them on a path to a lifelong love of soccer and fitness.

Our mission is to make soccer a fun and rewarding experience for all players of all abilities.

Since our inception, Foothills has pursued a culture of excellence through its leadership, coaches, players, volunteers, sponsors, and parent groups. We expect nothing less from everyone at Foothills than giving it all to achieve great things for our players.

Our Mandate

Our mandate today is the same as it was in 1972 – to create a culture that develops excellent players and outstanding people. We are accomplishing that by providing an inclusive experience for all.

The Foothills family is for everyone

Players who enjoy being part of a team, staying physically fit, and looking for a fun and rewarding soccer experience will find a home at Foothills. And those who have the determination, drive, and skill to advance their development to a professional level will find no better pathway to that dream than with Foothills.

Achieving Excellence

The Foothills philosophy starts young. We use a relaxed environment that focuses on fun, friendships, and camaraderie to instill a love of soccer and fitness through teamwork and responsibility. We develop excellence by encouraging good habits, creativity, and accountability. At Foothills, we create talented players and teams and build character through the lessons learned along the soccer journey.

For players with interest, determination, and talent, our PATHWAY TO PRO supports players to continue post-U17 soccer. Foothills alum have played for colleges and universities, and many have obtained scholarships. Others have represented Canada on the soccer pitch and even played for professional clubs, including Cavalry FCVancouver WhitecapsGalatasarayCF MontrealManchester CityRoss County, and many more.

Foothills Beyond The Pitch

But success extends beyond the pitch. Our alum include individuals who have gone on to successful corporate careers, having benefited from the special culture and experiences they had with Foothills.

Our players often have opportunities to participate in tournaments and other activities, like our 2023 “Live Like a Pro UK Tour.” Girls Academy Manager, Lee Tucker, described the tour this way, “The Live Like A Pro tour provided the girls and boys with lifetime memories. Each team played several games and experienced various playing environments and styles, all of which provide something different from when we compete in Alberta.”

It wasn’t all hard work for the players and coaches. Between matches, they saw the sites, and the BBC interviewed player Reese Kincaid about the impact of professional women’s soccer and the World Cup. The players also had guest trainers work with them, a talent show, and activities such as surfing, to build culture and focus on the holistic development of the group.

It’s amazing what can be achieved when good coaching and leadership combine with motivated players and supportive parents! We expect our players to work hard, play hard and enjoy this wonderful game. That is “The Foothills Way.”
