Foothills WFC in Alberta Premier League

In 2023 and 2024, Foothills WFC competed in Alberta Premier League (formerly League1 Alberta) as a development team for the Club’s Pro-Am program, which participated in the United Women’s Soccer League. During this time, our primary focus was on building our athletes’ skills and preparing them for higher levels of competition.

Now, as we embrace new opportunities through the Northern Super League (NSL), the APL has become an important step in our player pathway. Since 2025, this platform has become a key part of our commitment to helping athletes showcase their growth, compete at a high level, and prepare for the next stage in their development.

Under the leadership of Lee Tucker, Foothills WFC is poised to make a major impact, with ambition, talent, and preparation driving the program forward.

The APL is a critical stage in our Foothills pathway, providing players with a high-performance environment to continue developing, competing, and preparing for the demands of the next level. It bridges the gap between youth and senior football, offering consistent exposure to strong competition, increased training standards, and meaningful game experiences.
Within this environment, players are challenged not only technically and tactically, but also mentally, learning how to perform under pressure, adapt to different game scenarios, and take ownership of their development. Just as importantly, it provides visibility and access to opportunities beyond the club.

The progression of players such as Abby Steen, Myla Schneider, and Emma Schneider, who have recently signed professionally, demonstrates the impact of this stage in the pathway. Their journeys highlight what is possible when players are supported within a clear, aligned system that prioritizes both development and opportunity.

The APL is not just a competition; it is a platform that prepares players for what comes next, while reinforcing the standards, identity, and ambition of our program.
