Foothills Alumni Spotlight: Brady de Castro’s Journey to Ambrose University

Former Foothills member Brady de Castro has built an impressive record at the post-secondary level, earning recognition for both his on-field performance and his work in the classroom at Ambrose University.

Brady began playing with Chestermere United Soccer before joining Foothills in 2014. During his time with the Club, which continued through 2023, he steadily worked his way through the player-development pathway. He began with a Tier 2 Development Academy team, moved into Tier 1, and ultimately finished with the Foothills FC team. That progression helped build the technical ability, competitive mindset, and commitment to the game that he carried into post-secondary soccer.

At Ambrose, Brady has made an impact in both men’s soccer and futsal. He was named Ambrose Male Rookie of the Year in 2024 and Male Athlete of the Year in 2025. Brady also received consecutive team Most Valuable Player honours for men’s soccer and futsal in 2024 and 2025 and was selected to the ACAC Men’s Futsal South All-Conference Team in both seasons.

Success Beyond Competition

Brady’s success extended well beyond competition. He received the Ambrose Athletics Academic Achievement Award in 2024 and 2025, demonstrating the same dedication to his studies that he brought to his sport.

In the fall of 2026, Brady decided to enter the Education program at Ambrose University. It’s a natural next step for someone who has benefited from strong coaching and mentorship throughout his soccer journey. Brady also hopes to share his knowledge and experience with players of all ages, potentially helping the next generation develop their own skills and love for the game.

Brady is grateful for his time with Foothills. “I sincerely appreciate the exceptional support I received from friends, coaches and the technical staff at Foothills Soccer Club. Their focus on player development and encouragement enhanced both my skills and personal development, helping me excel at the ACAC level.”

From developing as a young player at Foothills to excelling in post-secondary athletics and now pursuing education, Brady’s journey demonstrates how the lessons learned through soccer can extend far beyond the field. And perhaps one day, he’ll be the one inspiring and mentoring the next generation of players.
