Abby Steen is a Canadian defender from Stittsville, Ontario, whose soccer journey has taken her to the university, pro-am, and international club pathways. A strong, composed centre back, Abby developed through West Ottawa SC before joining the StFX X-Women, where she quickly established herself as one of the top defenders in Atlantic University Sport.
Abby made an immediate impact at StFX. In her first U SPORTS season, she started all 12 games, scored twice, and was named a 2021 AUS Second Team All-Star.
Her rise continued in 2022, when she earned AUS Second Team All-Star honours for a second straight season. That same year, Abby joined Electric City FC in League1 Ontario alongside her twin sister Emma.
In 2023, Abby added Calgary Foothills WFC to her pathway, appearing for the club in UWS competition. That same year, she delivered one of the strongest seasons of her university career, helping StFX complete a perfect regular season and earning AUS First Team All-Star recognition. Abby was also named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian as the X-Women captured the AUS championship and advanced to the national stage.
Abby continued her post-secondary career with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, while also remaining connected to the Foothills. In 2026, she signed her first professional contract with FHL WFC in Iceland, marking the next step in her international soccer journey.
A decorated university defender and proven pro-am player, Abby Steen represents the kind of athlete who continues to build on each opportunity, showing younger players that consistency, preparation, and belief can open doors well beyond the local game.
