CALGARY, AB: May 3, 2025 – Calgary Foothills FC and WFC teams set the tone for an exciting 2025 season with commanding wins over Callies United in their season openers on Friday night at the Shane Homes West Soccer Dome. With strong performances across both matches and promising displays from seasoned and emerging talent alike, the evening marked a thrilling beginning for the Foothills program.
WFC kicked off at 5:30 p.m. and delivered a decisive 3-0 win. Striker Avril Jamieson led the charge with two goals, while Ashlynn Walia added a third to secure the clean sheet victory. Head Coach Lee Tucker praised the team’s performance and highlighted the contributions from the club’s younger players:
“Tonight was an outstanding team effort. Our younger players, including a 2009, several 2008s and 2007s—some of whom were part of our APDL National Champions team—displayed maturity and strength,” said Tucker. “It’s a testament to the Foothills development pathway that we continue to produce players who can perform confidently at this level.”

Foothills FC took the pitch at 7:45 p.m. and overcame a slow start to earn a 4-1 victory. After missing a few early opportunities, the team found its rhythm, closing out the first half with a crucial goal and carrying that momentum into a dominant second half. Striker Amadou Bayo netted two impressive goals, with additional goals coming from Tesloach David and Jamie Nicholson.
“We didn’t start the way we wanted and missed some good chances early on, but the group quickly adapted,” said Head Coach Connor Brady. “We responded with composure, scored before the break, and came out strong in the second half. Amadou showed his quality in front of goal, and overall, it was a strong team performance.”

Foothills FC and WFC will look to build on this strong foundation as they continue their 2025 campaigns with confidence, unity, and momentum. They will meet Calgary Blizzard on May 9 at the Shane Homes West Soccer Dome, 11014 Bearspaw Dam Rd NW, Calgary, Alberta. WFC game time is 5:30 p.m. FC hit the pitch at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
