GAME CANCELLED – CALGARY, AB—The Calgary Foothills WFC UWS League team (Foothills) will take the field at Broadview Park on Saturday, June 29th, at 3:00 p.m., to host Los Angeles SC. Foothills is looking to repeat its earlier performance against the California team, where they came home with a 4-0 shutout on June 14.
The day promises to bring out a large crowd of supporters thanks to the exciting results of the team’s performance this season and the return from professional contracts of Grace Stordy and Talia White.
Head Coach Lee Tucker has been pleased with his team’s performance this season, and he is excited about the return of these two veteran defenders to the club. “Grace and Talia are both excellent additions to the group and give us great experience at this level,” he said. “They will give us a strong foundation from which to build our game and the leadership that is required.”
Calgary native Stordy just finished a season as a defender with Portugal’s SC Braga. She has a long and successful career with Foothills, where she was a Youth National champion with the 2002 girls and is excited to be back playing in front of a hometown crowd.
White just wrapped up her professional
debut with Treaty United in Ireland and is excited to play with her talented Foothills teammates. Another Calgary native, she was a stand-out defender with the Foothills 98 girls before joining the Calgary Dinos where she recorded 83 appearances in five seasons. During her time there, she picked up several individual accolades, including being named Canada West Rookie of the Year and a Canada West First Team All-Star twice, in addition to being named to the First Team All-Canadian and Academic All-Canadian.
We are indebted to our Game Day Sponsor, Sanjel. Fans can expect lots of fun activities throughout the day, including bouncy castles, food trucks, a live DJ, and the always popular bubble soccer!
The June 29th match will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Broadview Park, 2005 Broadview Rd NW. Tickets for that home game can be purchased here or at the gate!
The game is available via Livestream here.
