Player Spotlight – Rio Castillo-Hume

Rio Castillo-Hume has her sights set on a big stage.

“My soccer dream is to play for Canada’s National Team,” Rio shares. “Foothills is helping me by giving me challenging practices and a place to improve my skills and learn more about the game.”

For Rio, the Alberta Player Development League (APDL) provides an environment that pushes her to grow. “The APDL program helps players get better by focusing on skills, fitness, and learning more about the game. What I like most is how we always work hard as a team.”

She describes her current stage as “Building My Foundation.” “Right now, I am learning the important skills to become a better player in the future,” Rio explains.

With her dedication and team-first mindset, Rio is laying the groundwork for a bright future and keeping her dream of wearing the Canadian jersey in sharp focus.
