Tristan Corneil was born in Surrey, British Columbia. Her journey began locally, but her competitive edge sharpened at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), where she became a defensive anchor for the Cascades from 2012 to 2016. Twice named Canada West First-Team All-Star, she helped UFV capture the 2014 Canada West silver medal and a fourth-place finish at the U SPORTS National Championship. Coach Niko Marcina praised her as “high-character… focused… currently reaping the rewards of their work ethic,” a testament to her leadership on and off the pitch.
After graduation, Tristan pursued opportunities abroad, starting with a move to Sweden, turning out for Rynninge IK, Telge United, Kalmar FF, and Borgeby FK between 2017 and 2019. These early stints in Scandinavia tested her adaptability and resilience, especially as she returned from a serious knee injury to reclaim her place in professional soccer.
In 2018, Tristan joined Calgary Foothills WFC in the United Women’s Soccer (UWS) league, the club’s second season competing at that level. She trained and played with the Foothills squad during their summer campaign, contributing to the development of what became one of Canada’s top women’s programs and using the experience to prepare for her return to Europe later that year.
In 2020, she achieved a personal milestone by signing with FC Gintra in Lithuania. With Gintra, she won the A Lyga championship and made her UEFA Women’s Champions League debut, helping the club defeat Slovan Bratislava in qualifying.
Further stops in Ukraine (WFC Zhytlobud-2) and Romania (Politehnica Timișoara) broadened her European résumé before she joined AC Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic in 2023.
Returning to Canada in 2023, Tristan signed with Unity FC of League1 BC, becoming a defensive leader and mentor for younger players. Over three seasons she anchored Unity’s backline, with the club calling her “a stalwart… providing stability and leadership in defense.” In mid-2025, she and four Unity teammates transferred to Vancouver Rise FC Academy to compete in the Concacaf W Champions Cup, furthering her experience on the continental stage.
Tristan’s career spans multiple countries and competitions, showing Canadian players that pathways to the professional game can be forged through determination and adaptability.
