Our Pro-Am Program

Foothills is proud to introduce our Pro-Am program. It is designed to bridge the gap between amateur and professional soccer. This initiative plays a vital role in preparing athletes for the highest levels of the game in Canada and beyond.

With Calgary’s most successful soccer curriculum, we are committed to developing both players and coaches. Our track record speaks for itself: over 50 men and 30 women have progressed from Foothills to professional clubs worldwide, including 14 women competing in the inaugural Northern Super League (NSL) season.

Building on our strong legacy in U.S. and Canadian leagues, Foothills Pro-Am teams now compete in League1 Alberta and the national League1 Canada system, aligning with Canada’s growing professional landscape through the Canadian Premier League (CPL) and NSL.

Close Relationships with The CPL AND NSL

Foothills has close ties to the Canadian Premier League (CPL). We paved the road to membership in it for the Cavalry FC. Many of our members have gone on to play for the Cavalry and Head Coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. was instrumental in the formation of the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club.

We are champions of the “women in soccer” movement in Canada.  We supported Diana Matheson and her team as they brought professional women’s soccer to Canada. Foothills is a founding member of the Northern Super League (NSL), and the official reserve program to the Calgary Wild professional team. In the Wild’s inaugural year, seven players from Foothills were chosen for their roster (14 across all NSL teams.)

Foothills has Calgary’s (and arguably Canada’s) most successful curriculum for supporting players and coaches throughout their soccer careers, to play in professional leagues anywhere in the world.
