The Foothills family is for everyone. We are all about building friendships, creating a “soccer for life” mentality, and supporting our members in reaching their dreams.
Here are some of their stories: Thank you Foothills Ravens, Hussein Hage, and Luke Mills for sharing, and congratulations to our 2007 APDL Girls team whose hard work is taking them to PDP Nationals in August!

Foothills Ravens Have
Been Cultivating Friendships and Creating Memories for 14 Seasons!
By Coach Rich Rowe
In a time when we see 50% of girls leaving sport by age 14, the Ravens are a tremendous success story.
The Ravens’ seven-year (14 seasons spring/winter) story began in 2017. Originally, we were the U9 Hearts, then the U11 Sizzlers before settling on the Ravens in our U11 indoor season.
The journey at Foothills started as our players aged out of community grassroots soccer. Before coaching them at Foothills, I had the privilege of guiding the girls through their earliest exposure to the game at the community level.
This close-knit group of amazing young women has experienced significant growth and development in those seven years. The U11 Indoor season was a turning point, and the team began a trajectory of increasing wins per season to the point where, in 2023, the team was promoted up to Tier 3.

Hussein Hage Promoted
from Tier 2 to Tier 1
Hussein was recently promoted from FH 08 to FC 08 because of his drive to succeed and determination to improve his game. Way to go, Hussein!
“When I got promoted from tier 2 to tier 1, I felt very excited for the change. I feel I have a responsibility to stay at that level and have the drive to keep moving forward. After realizing that everyone was improving faster than me, I started to practice on my own at home, extra club practices, and the biggest factor was my private sessions. Having that dedication ultimately pushed me to that next level.” Hussein Hage, FC 08

Luke Mills Promoted from 09 Prospects to FC 2009
Luke originally started at a lower tier but loved soccer so much, he decided he wanted to play more competitively. He put in the work and is now playing for FC 2009.
“It feels so good to be promoted, especially when it’s this big of a promotion. It’s a challenge I want to face, playing at a level like this. I think I deserve to be here with all the extra work I put into my football on and off the field. I’m really looking forward to train with my new team again after I come off my injury. It’s mind-blowing that I have progressed to the highest team in only 2 seasons. I’m excited to be on this team. It’s another stepping stone to reach my goal of playing for the Foothills 09 APDL team by the start of next season. Thank you to my dad, and all the coaches at Calgary Foothills Soccer Club. Thank you, Coach Al, Jaxon, Eshay, Luis, Jordan, Chase, Jamieson, Eric, and Coach Marc.” Luke Mills, FC 2009
