Tanbridge Soccer Program
Tanbridge’s soccer program is available for students in grades 4 through 9. The program combines rigorous academic and athletic components that teach aspiring athletes the skills necessary for success on and off the field.
Tanbridge and Foothills – Joining Forces to Deliver a State-of-the-Art Soccer Experience for Students
Tanbridge has partnered with Calgary Foothills Soccer Club (Foothills) to provide students with the high calibre facilities, trainers, and coaches their program demands. Tanbridge will pair up their in-house coach, Ramon Mifflin, with Foothills Performance Manager, Jamieson Sawka, to offer a program focusing on character development and teamwork.
Tanbridge’s Athletic Director, Oskar Kasiuk, is very excited to have Foothills open its facility doors to the Tanbridge soccer program. He said, “In years past, we have been running our soccer operations out of our school gymnasium. Now, our student-athletes will have a state-of-the-art experience training at the Macron Performance Centre. This will also open our existing school gymnasium to operate our newly introduced basketball program.”
The Foothills Program for Tanbridge
Beginning in September of 2023, Tanbridge students will come to Foothills’ Macron Performance Centre three mornings per week to participate in a program under the direction of Foothills Technical Director Jay Wheeldon and Performance Manager Jamieson Sawka. Sawka is especially suited for the role as he holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a Canada Soccer Youth License.
Sawka says, “Creating a foundation for athletes to succeed in both their academic and athletic pathways is vital to their development. Tanbridge Academy’s bridging of academics and sport makes for a great partnership with Foothills. Their values complement ‘The Foothills Way‘ and our mandate to develop excellent players and outstanding people on and off the field. With my passion for academics and sport, I am excited to be on the field weekly with the students to help foster their love for the game while developing their sportsmanship, leadership, and soccer skills.”
