Canada Soccer’s TELUS She CAN Coach program is hosting a workshop for its participants at Foothills’ Macron Performance Centre on April 26 and 27. Foothills is proud to support this important program, which advances gender equality in soccer by reducing the barriers of entry for women to coach. TELUS She CAN Coach Influences Other Club Initiatives
Women in Sport
Our Women in Sport program aims to stem the downward trend toward fewer women getting involved in sports in any capacity, including as players, coaches, and managers. We are focused on getting more girls to join soccer and stay involved in “soccer for life.” Our program includes events that create camaraderie, like our NWSL Draft, which kicked off a couple of weeks ago with a viewing party that attracted 40 of our youth and grassroots players. We also have initiatives in the works that will see our older players connect with our younger girls by leading their practices, sharing stories, and inspiring each other throughout the process. This will develop leadership and mentorship skills. Members of our Pro-Am teams attended our April 7 Minifest to inspire attendees and share some of their secrets. And we are planning a “Mom’s Game” for parents, coaches, and managers sometime around Mother’s Day.
Coach Mentorship and Development
The Club is big on supporting our coaches. We recognize the commitment our coaches make and the important roles they play in our players’ lives on and off the pitch. Along with TELUS She Can Coach, we invest in other initiatives to help them thrive in and ENJOY their coaching experience. Watch for more information about a Club Coach Clinic coming soon.
Are You Looking for An Opportunity to Make a Difference?
With the Outdoor season
about to kick off, we are looking for individuals to join us as coaches. Whether you’re an experienced professional or a recreational soccer enthusiast, we welcome coaches of all levels.
For more information, contact our Manager of Operations, Colin Mackay, at Colin@gofoothills.ca.
Manager Mentorship and Development
Our team managers play a vital role in connecting the players and coaching staff. They are a critical part of our Club’s success, and we are dedicated to developing and mentoring them as well. Once the outdoor season launches, a team manager meeting and workshop will happen. We will leverage the learnings from the TELUS She CAN Coach initiative for our managers as well and have regular social connections with them throughout the season.
