CALGARY, AB: July 24, 2025 – This Friday, July 25, Foothills FC and WFC welcome St. Albert Impact to the Macron Performance Centre for a crucial League1 Alberta doubleheader that could shape the outcome of the regular season.
WFC vs. St. Albert – 5:00 p.m. KickoffFor WFC, currently top of the table, Friday’s clash is a must-win to stay ahead in a tightly contested title race. The women’s side enters the match with momentum, having shown grit and determination in a 2-1 comeback victory over Edmonton BTB last Sunday, keeping them one point ahead of Calgary Blizzard in the standings.
“This group continues to rise to the occasion,” said Head Coach Lee Tucker. “Every player has contributed to what has already been a successful League1 season: record points, record goals scored, lowest goals against, and several players signed into professional soccer with the Calgary Wild FC. We have put ourselves in a great position ahead of a very tough game on Friday.”
“However, our games with St. Albert have always been competitive. They have some excellent players, such as Canadian youth international Adalyn Fairweather and former professional Jamie Erickson. This is going to be a battle. We will need to be at our best to secure a win and will be looking to leaders, including Myla Schneider, Amelia Russo, Anneke Odinga, and Kendall Showers, to get us over the line.”
FC vs. St. Albert – 7:30 p.m. Kickoff
The FC side can still conceivably gain first place, and three points Friday are essential against a strong St. Albert squad. In their matchup earlier this season, FC fell to their rivals after conceding a goal at the 94-minute mark, so they are seeking redemption.
“Every game from here on out is essentially a must-win scenario. Pressure is a privilege, and I am looking forward to seeing how the lads rise to the occasion,” said Head Coach Connor Brady. “We have only gotten better as the season has gone on. Our chemistry has improved, and we’re looking forward to showcasing that in front of our fans. We will need continued strong leadership from players like Hafiz Mahjor, Sam Diltz, and our consistently reliable backline.”
Fans can expect an evening of high-stakes soccer, elite talent, and playoff-level intensity. Come out and cheer on your Foothills teams in one of the most important home matchdays of the season.
