Calgary, AB – Currently sitting at the top of the table, Foothills WFC [‘Foothills’] is focused on preparing to host their toughest rival in the West Conference, Santa Clarita Blue Heat [‘SC Blue Heat’]. Both undefeated so far this United Women’s Soccer [‘UWS’] season, Foothills WFC (4-0-0) and SC Blue Heat (3-0-0) are preparing to go head-to-head in what may be the most heated match of the summer. There is no shortage of history between Foothills and SC Blue Heat with Foothills handing SC Blue Heat their only two losses in the 2022 UWS regular season.

“We are very pleased with the start to the season and proud to be on top of the west conference at the halfway point” explained Head Coach, Lee Tucker. “We now head into a pivotal weekend where we host our longtime rivals Santa Clarita Blue Heat, and it will be another challenging game on Saturday.”

SC Blue Heat is based out of Santa Clarita California and was established in 2010. The club has played an important role in developing some of US Women’s Soccer top talent. SC Blue Heat are both the 2016 and 2021 UWS National Champions and are undefeated this season with a roster full of international talent. There are several players, five from the USA and two from Mexico, who played at the U20 Concacaf Championship as well as full internationals Zoe Burns (Canada) and Sydney Vermillion (Armenia) who are a part of the SC Blue Heat team.

As a standout performer on the Foothills roster so far this season, Momo Nakao is seeking to keep her edge as Foothills prepares for their most important game so far. Nakao was a youth member of the National Team of Japan Football Association and is currently a member of the University of Memphis Tigers, alongside fellow Foothills teammates Grace Stordy and Mya Jones. Nakao has several accolades under her belt, including but not limited to, 2022 AAC All-Conference Second Team, 2021 AAC All-Rookie Team and a competitor in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Uruguay.

SC Blue Heat has no shortage of talent themselves with Olufolasade (Sade) Adamolekun fronting their 11. Adamolekun is the top goal scorer in the west division so far and Jamaican women’s national team member participating in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship qualification. Adamolekun earned the top goal scorer accolades of the CONCACAF tournament, notching 4 goals in 3 games in qualification. Adamolekun attends the University of Southern California and was awarded a member of the All-Freshman Team in 2019.

The game will kick off on Saturday, June 17 at 3:00PM MST at Broadview Park, 2005 Broadview Rd NW, Calgary, AB. Tickets can be purchased here. It can also be viewed LIVE here.

About Foothills WFC

Calgary Foothills WFC has participated in the United Women’s Soccer (UWS) league since 2017. The team won the Western Conference Championship in 2018, 2019, and 2022 and was voted UWS franchise of the year in 2019.

About United Women’s Soccer (UWS) League

UWS is a national pro-am league composed of professionally operated clubs within the United States and Canada. UWS provides high-level competition for college players, aspiring and former professionals, and international stars. The overarching goal of this league is to achieve equality of opportunity for women’s soccer. In a time when there are several professional and amateur leagues for men’s soccer across North America, a huge gap exists between the college and professional ranks on the women’s side. UWS fills that gap by providing a pathway to pro for the amateur player.
