CALGARY, AB: July 28, 2025 – The Foothills WFC and FC squads wrapped up their League1 Alberta 2025 regular seasons on Tuesday, July 29, in a doubleheader against Calgary Rangers that showcased both the power of a dominant performance and the grit of a determined squad.
WFC Rolls to 8-0 Victory
In the first match of the evening, WFC delivered a commanding 8-0 win over the Rangers in front of an energized home crowd. The team’s attacking prowess was on full display with goals from Avril Jamieson (2), Kendall Showers, Amelia Russo, Rachel Barlow, Abby Steen, Grace Hannaford, and Emma Schneider.
Head Coach Lee Tucker praised the effort and efficiency shown in the final match. “It was a great end to the season. Our attack was very efficient tonight, which is something we have been working toward all season. It was an excellent team performance with lots of different scorers. We were also able to get more valuable minutes and experience for several of our youth players (such as Yasmeen Tarraf, Ashlynn Walia, Jaida Jones), which is a key objective of this aspect of our program.”
With the win, WFC now awaits the outcome of Friday’s Calgary Blizzard vs. Calgary Villains matchup, which will determine the final league standings and whether WFC will claim the League1 Alberta title.
FC Battles to a Draw
In the second match, FC capped off its season with a 1-1 draw, the result reflecting the highs and lows of a year filled with progress and perseverance. The coaching staff ensured all players saw game time in the season finale, providing a complete team effort on the field. Charles Nana scored early in the game but the Rangers’ Clement Guay tied things up shortly after. The remainder of the game saw a tough back-and-forth battle that ultimately resulted in the tie.
Assistant Coach Paul Ferries offered his perspective on the performance. “What we delivered tonight pretty much summed up the season. It was a great group effort with all players seeing game time. We had moments of brilliance but also moments when we got away from our game model a bit.”
As the regular season closes, Foothills extends sincere thanks to its players, coaching staff, fans, and dedicated sponsors, especially Leo Secreto and the team at Perfection Millwork, and the Phoenix Technology crew, for their support throughout the season.
