Few players in the Northern Super League bring the breadth of international experience that Kiley Norkus does. A defender by trade, Norkus has carved out a career that has taken her across Europe, the Middle East, and North America before landing with Halifax Tides FC in 2025.
Born and raised in California, Kiley cut her teeth with the Camarillo Eagles and went on to play NCAA Division I soccer at Cal State Northridge, where she made 36 appearances and earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week honours after scoring a brace against New Mexico State in 2015. She later transferred to Eastern Washington University, helping the Eagles capture the 2017 Big Sky regular-season title and collecting All-Academic recognition.
Her senior career was nothing short of a world tour. She began with Beach FC in the WPSL before moving overseas to Sweden with Telge United in 2018, where local media highlighted her goal-scoring ability from the back line. She then signed with Oiartzun KE in Spain’s Segunda División Femenina. Iceland became her next stop, first with Haukar in 2021 and then Víkingur Reykjavík in 2022, where she gained valuable experience in a competitive European environment.
In 2023, Kiley moved to ASA Tel Aviv in Israel’s Ligat Al Women before joining Hibernians FC in Malta in early 2024. There, she produced one of the defining moments of her career, scoring a 90+1’ winner against Birkirkara, a strike later voted one of the club’s “Moments of the Year.” Later in 2024, she featured with Calgary Foothills WFC in the UWS, scoring two goals in five appearances, before a stint in Turkey with Amed SK rounded out her whirlwind year.
January 2025 brought a new chapter: signing with Halifax Tides FC, where she became a fixture in the club’s inaugural NSL campaign. Her defensive grit and ability to surge forward from full-back quickly made her indispensable. She logged over 1,300 minutes in the first season and notched an assist in September’s clash with AFC Toronto, where her well-placed cross created Halifax’s opener.
Across multiple continents, Kiley Norkus has been celebrated not only for her adaptability but also for her resilience in chasing the game wherever it would take her. Now in Halifax, she has come full circle, anchoring a Canadian backline while inspiring younger players to see professional football as a truly global adventure.
