Marco Carducci was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1996 and started his rise from local youth leagues to Canadian Premier League champion. Starting with MSB United and the Calgary Villains, Marco’s promise earned him a spot in the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy at 14. By 2010 he was already turning heads: named CSL Division II MVP and Rookie of the Year as a teenager.

The Whitecaps signed him to his first professional contract in 2014, and he made his senior debut in the Canadian Championship that May. Though opportunities with Vancouver’s MLS squad were limited, he gained valuable experience with Whitecaps FC 2 in the USL and later with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in 2017. In 2018, Marco returned home to start for Calgary Foothills, winning PDL Goalkeeper of the Year and helping capture the 2018 PDL Championship.

When the Canadian Premier League launched in 2019, Cavalry FC made Carducci one of their foundational signings. He quickly became the CPL’s standout goalkeeper, backstopping Cavalry to Spring and Fall regular-season titles in the inaugural year and earning the 2019 Golden Glove as the league’s top keeper. That same summer, John Herdman called him into Canada’s senior squad making Marco the first CPL player ever called up to the national team. “It is always a huge honour to represent your country,” he said at the time, “so I’m very excited and proud to get the call up.”

Over the next seasons, Marco cemented his reputation as the Roman Wall” of Cavalry. In 2022, he earned a second Golden Glove, and in 2024, after years of near misses, he helped Cavalry claim their first CPL Championship, lifting the North Star Cup before the home fans. Beyond the pitch, his honesty and leadership shone when, in 2022, he publicly shared his testicular cancer diagnosis, urging others: “If something seems unusual, get it checked.” His openness made him a powerful advocate for men’s health and earned respect across Canadian soccer.

Coaches and teammates laud his resilience and influence. Cavalry boss Tommy Wheeldon Jr. credits Marco as the heartbeat of the locker room, while Canada coach Herdman called his initial call-up “well deserved.” Off the field, Marco supports the OneBall Foundation, emphasizing players’ rights and community engagement.

With over 100 Cavalry appearances and Champions Cup experience, Marco remains a cornerstone of the CPL’s growth and a model professional.
