Nick Zuniga is an Academy Trainer with Foothills, working day-to-day with players in our Academy environment and supporting teams across our youth pathway. As part of the Club’s Alberta Player Development League (APDL) program, he has served on the coaching staff for both the U17 Boys and 2006 Girls, giving him a front-row role in guiding Foothills’ top youth talent through the province’s highest performance league.
Nick is deeply embedded in Calgary’s women’s and youth game. In 2025, he coached the Calgary Wild League1 Alberta team, which fields top U18 female players from across the province. He leads Wolves FC in the Calgary Women’s Soccer Association (CWSA) Premier Division while also serving as Head Coach with Foothills WFC in CWSA play. Within the APDL, he has also coached Calgary MUSC 09B, reflecting his commitment to collaborating with community clubs to raise standards across the wider player pathway. He has also served as assistant coach for the Mount Royal University Cougars women’s program.
Nick’s coaching résumé includes representing Calgary and Alberta on the provincial stage, including serving as head coach of the Zone 3 (Calgary) boys team at the Alberta Summer Games. His greatest impact, however, is seen in individual stories: players credit him with experiences that accelerated both their confidence and development.
Known for high-tempo, detail-oriented sessions, Nick Zuniga challenges his players to think quickly, compete relentlessly, and embrace accountability, while still keeping a genuine love of the game at the centre of everything he does. He shares in the Club’s ambition to remain a provincial and national leader in player development, contributing to a culture that prioritizes long-term growth over shortcuts.
Next up for Nick is obtaining his A license.
