For the youngest members of the Foothills family, our goal is simple: help children fall in love with soccer, enjoy being active, and experience the joy of being part of a team.

Foothills Grassroots introduces young players to the FUNdamentals of the game through age-appropriate play, movement, ball skills, teamwork, and plenty of encouragement. At this stage, soccer should feel fun, welcoming, and exciting. Players build agility, balance, coordination, confidence, and friendships while learning what it means to belong to a team.

Grassroots fits into family life and supports a healthy introduction to sport, not pressure children to specialize too soon. For players who want more as they grow, the Foothills pathway is there. For young beginners, the focus is simple: have fun, make friends, stay active, and create lasting memories.

Parents are an important part of the Grassroots experience. Many of our teams are led by parent volunteer coaches, supported by Foothills through coach education, workshops, age-appropriate resources, and mentorship from our technical team. Together, we create a positive first-team experience that helps shape the future of soccer in Calgary.
