Coach Development and Mentorship: February 2025 Update

Passion. Personality. Purpose. These three words are commonly used when describing the ideal Foothills coach. Our coaches are a big reason for our Club’s success. We recognize their commitment and invest in their development as much as we do our players’.

This indoor season we introduced, “The Green Code” for our coaches and trainers. This is the first part of the Club’s rollout of our coach’s education program called the “Green Print – Coaching the Foothill’s Way”. We continue to strive to change the soccer landscape in Canada and the Green Print coaching pathway will separate our coaches from the rest of the city, province and nationally. Coaches will work informally with each other during roundtable discussions and formally through our pathway modules and CMSA, ASA and CSA coaching pathways.

We will be introducing our modules-based program early in 2025 and coaches will have the opportunity to complete modules and earn Foothills badges as they complete their online education.

I’m excited about the project, and at our last roundtable discussion on December 12, the 25 coaches in attendance were enthusiastic as well and eager for more education and support from the Club and to continue their coaching journey.

Our coaching mentorship program will continue under the direction of our phase leads. Coaches will be identified throughout the season and receive important feedback from their training sessions, games and shadowing our highly credentialed full-time staff.

“Did You Know? Calgary Foothills Soccer Club has over 420 certified coaches, more than any other Alberta-based soccer club.”
