Alexandria “Alex” Lamontagne carved out a dynamic soccer career that spans Canada, the United States, and Europe, marked by goals, adaptability, and a relentless drive to succeed.

Born in Richmond Hill, Ontario and raised in Whitby, Alex’s earliest development came through Malvern SC and Ajax SC, before rising to prominence with Durham United FA in the Ontario Premier League (formerly League1 Ontario). In 2015, she exploded onto the scene, scoring 18 goals and finishing as the league’s second-highest scorer.

At the collegiate level, Lamontagne represented Syracuse University from 2014 to 2017, where she appeared in 71 matches, tallying 10 goals.

Her Canadian national team breakthrough came in 2015 and 2016, when she earned silver with the U-20s at the Concacaf Championship and competed at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. In March 2017, she debuted with Canada’s senior team at the Algarve Cup, earning two caps.

Professionally, her journey began in France in 2018 with FC Fleury 91, followed by a successful stint with Rodez AF from 2020 to 2023. At Rodez, she immediately made her mark, scoring four goals in her first match of the 2020–21 season against Thonon Évian. By 2022–23, she was the team’s top scorer and a central figure in their promotion to the French top flight, D1 Arkema.

In June 2023, Alex signed with AS Saint-Étienne (ASSE Féminin), one of France’s most storied clubs. During her first season, she became a reliable forward option, logging 24 league appearances and five goals.

Alongside her club career, Alex continued to make summer appearances with Calgary Foothills WFC in the United Women’s Soccer League, where she starred during the team’s 2019 West Conference title run, earning All-UWS First Team honours and a place in the league’s Team of the Week after a hat trick against Colorado Pride.

Alex Lamontagne embodies the global Canadian soccer story: a player who honed her game at home, sharpened it in the NCAA, tested herself in UWS, and then became a professional abroad, all while carrying the maple leaf onto international pitches.
