Bow Jackson has carved out a unique career in English football, combining leadership on the pitch with service to her community. A versatile defender who can operate at right-back or centre-back, Bow is also an on-call firefighter with Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue , a dual identity that has made her a role model.

Her footballing journey began in the South West, with early development leading to a place in the FA Women’s Super League with Yeovil Town around 2017. Playing at the highest level of the English game gave Bow invaluable experience, but she was also eager to test herself abroad. That chance came in Canada with Calgary Foothills, where she spent a season honing her skills in a competitive North American environment.

In 2019 she returned to England and signed for Plymouth Argyle Women, with manager Jamie Sherwood praising her character: “Bow epitomises the qualities and values we want and expect of players at our club.”

In the summer of 2022 Bow joined Exeter City Women, quickly establishing herself as a key figure in the back line. She became a natural leader and was later confirmed as club captain.

Bow has spoken openly about perspective: “‘No one is going to die’ is what I remind my Exeter City teammates when they step out to play,” she told the FA in 2023, explaining how her firefighting shifts shape her approach to sport. That balance between high-stakes community service and competitive football has earned her media features from outlets such as The Times, the FA Women’s Competitions site, and Sky Sports, which profiled her as part of the ripple effect of the Lionesses’ success across the pyramid.

Bow Jackson’s journey through the WSL, international club football at Calgary Foothills in Canada, and leadership roles in England’s lower leagues reflects a broad and committed playing life. At Exeter City Women she continues to lead by example, marshalling the defence and setting standards as captain.
