Born in France but raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Bruno Zebie built his soccer career through Canada’s developing pathways, balancing university triumphs, professional competition in the CPL, and a later move into coaching.
Bruno’s early years were shaped in Edmonton’s local soccer culture. He developed through FC Edmonton’s Academy and went on to captain youth sides in the province. By 2015, he made his senior debut with FC Edmonton in the NASL, appearing in a league match against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. After that first taste of the pro game, Bruno chose to refine both his education and his soccer by joining the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
It proved to be a winning decision. Between 2016 and 2017, he played 16 matches for the Bears, helping them secure the 2016 U SPORTS National Championship, the program’s first in more than a decade. He earned Canada West All-Star honours in consecutive years, while teammates and coaches praised his reliability in midfield.
His summers were spent with Calgary Foothills in the USL PDL, where he became a cornerstone of the squad that won the 2018 PDL Championship. That title, the first of its kind for the club, put Zebie back in the spotlight and led to his inclusion in the inaugural Canadian Premier League season.
In 2019, Bruno returned to FC Edmonton, now part of the CPL, where he played 23 matches and scored once, a highlight in a season that connected the club’s past NASL identity to its CPL present. The following year, he switched allegiances to rivals Cavalry FC, signing in February 2020.
By the time his CPL chapter closed, Bruno had amassed a résumé that included championships at both university and amateur levels, nearly 40 CPL appearances, and the respect of coaches across Alberta. He also represented Canada at the U-18 level in 2013, adding an international thread to his story.
After retiring from professional play, Bruno Zebie returned to the University of Alberta Golden Bears as an assistant coach in 2022, investing his experience back into the program that had shaped him. He also became involved with youth development in Edmonton, mentoring the next generation of midfielders.
