Daniel Kaiser developed through Calgary Foothills before continuing his soccer career at the university, professional and semi-professional levels.
A defender, Daniel was identified early by Canada Soccer and selected for a Canada U-15 identification camp in Burnaby in 2015.
He went on to play for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds from 2018 to 2022, making 60 appearances during his university career. Daniel earned Canada West All-Rookie Team honours in his first season and was named a Canada West Second Team All-Star in 2022.
His final UBC season included a run to the U SPORTS national championship match. Daniel scored in the final as UBC battled Thompson Rivers University before ultimately earning the national silver medal. His achievements extended beyond the field. Daniel studied Psychology at UBC and was recognized as a U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian.
While at UBC, Daniel also earned an opportunity at the professional level. In 2021, he signed a CPL-U SPORTS Development Contract with Cavalry FC after impressing during preseason. He made his Canadian Premier League debut against York United in June and went on to make 11 league appearances for Cavalry that season.
Following his university career, Daniel continued playing in League1 BC, first with Varsity FC/Nautsa’mawt FC and later joining Burnaby FC in 2024.
Daniel has also built a strong life beyond the pitch. While at UBC, he volunteered with ICORD, supporting people living with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities in an inclusive exercise environment.
After completing his degree, Daniel pursued a career focused on student engagement and community building. As of fall 2026, he is Coordinator, Student Engagement at the University of Victoria, where his work includes helping students build connections, navigate university life and create welcoming campus communities.
Worth noting, Daniel’s younger brother, Markus Kaiser, also came through the Foothills pathway before playing for UBC and Cavalry FC.
Daniel’s journey reflects the broader impact of the Foothills pathway: developing as a player, reaching the professional game, succeeding academically and carrying the leadership and community values learned through sport into life beyond soccer.
