Born in Calgary, Alberta, in 1994, Dominick Łukasz Zator is product of CalGlen and Calgary Foothills, before maturing as a defender at the University of Calgary, where he logged 67 appearances and six goals between 2012 and 2016.
Dominick’s breakthrough came with Calgary Foothills in the PDL, where he helped secure the 2018 PDL Championship. That same year, his performances earned him a place in the Canadian Premier League’s inaugural season with Cavalry FC. With Cavalry, he cemented himself as one of the CPL’s premier defenders, guiding the club to both the Spring and Fall titles in 2019. His towering header at BC Place, eliminating the Vancouver Whitecaps from the Canadian Championship, became one of the defining moments of the new league.
After two seasons with Cavalry, Dominick joined York United, where he surpassed 100 CPL appearances and earned a Defender of the Year nomination in 2022. A loan to Vasalunds IF in Sweden expanded his European exposure and hinted at the next step. In 2023, he made the leap to Korona Kielce in Poland’s Ekstraklasa, embracing the challenge of a relegation battle. His performances led to his his first Canada senior call-up in June 2023.
Dominick debuted for Canada against Guadeloupe at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. He went on to collect three caps through mid-2024.
By summer 2025, he signed with Arka Gdynia, continuing his Polish adventure.
From Calgary’s grassroots to Ekstraklasa stadiums, Dominick Zator’s career embodies persistence, adaptability, and the belief that Canadian players can forge a path to the world stage.
