Born in Calgary in 2002, Grace Stordy has grown into one of Canada’s most reliable young defenders. Her journey spans grassroots pitches in Calgary, championship-winning seasons in the U.S. and UWS, professional experience in Portugal, and now a return home with Calgary Wild FC in the inaugural Northern Super League.
Grace’s soccer path began with Calgary Foothills, where she broke into the UWS side at just 16. In her debut 2018 season, she impressed immediately, scoring in her first match against Real Salt Lake Women and earning a place on the UWS All-West First Team. She later returned to Foothills in 2023, anchoring the defense during a remarkable season that saw her named West Conference Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-UWS First Team.
Her talent carried her south to the University of Memphis Tigers (NCAA) in 2020. There, she established herself as a cornerstone defender across 72 matches. As a freshman, she was named AAC Rookie of the Year, and over her collegiate career she collected multiple AAC First-Team All-Conference selections, balancing athletic excellence with academic honors. By her senior year in 2023, she led a Memphis backline that posted 13 clean sheets, a program record.
In early 2024, Grace took her game abroad, signing with SC Braga in Portugal’s top flight. Later that year, she returned to Calgary to rejoin Foothills before signing her first professional contract with Calgary Wild FC in 2025. Wearing the #2 shirt, she became one of the first names on the team sheet in the NSL’s inaugural season.
Coaches and media have consistently praised her blend of grit and quality. UWS coverage called her “reliable, hard-to-beat defending with attacking threats forward,” while Memphis head coach Brooks Monaghan described her as a player whose leadership on the backline was as impactful as her technical ability.
Internationally, Grace has worn Canadian colours at the youth level, with call-ups to Canada U-20 camps in 2022, further underlining her place among the nation’s rising defenders.
Grace Stordy’s story reflects a career built on consistency, adaptability, and passion. She stands as a symbol of Calgary’s soccer future in the NSL.
