Habeeba Abdou has risen through the ranks of Alberta’s competitive youth leagues, earning a reputation as both a prolific goal scorer and a fierce competitor.
In 2025, her career reached new heights when she achieved a lifelong dream: earning a call-up to the Egyptian Women’s National Team.
That same year, Habeeba signed her first professional contract with Zed FC, one of Egypt’s premier women’s clubs. Her experience training with elite teams like Al Ahly FC and stepping into the professional game has given her a rare perspective on the sport’s demands. “Going to Egypt to play with the national team was an amazing experience,” she said. “It was such an eye-opener and a great learning journey. I got to live the professional life of soccer.”
Habeeba credits much of her success to her foundation at Calgary Foothills. From her early years on the U14 and U15 squads to becoming one of the club’s most recognized young alumni, she honed her technical ability and leadership with every season. In 2023–2025, she tallied impressive goal-scoring records in both outdoor and indoor Alberta Premier Development League play. “The staff and players at Foothills have been such a huge help and support throughout my journey,” she said, recognizing mentors like Director of Performance Jamieson Sawka, who helped create her highlight reel that caught the attention of Egypt’s national team selectors.
Since earning her first call-up in 2025, Habeeba has gone on to make her senior international debut for Egypt against Tunisia and score her first international goal against Jordan, further establishing herself as one of Foothills’ most inspiring young alumni. Her journey has also come full circle, with her experiences at the professional and international levels now helping inspire the next generation of players within the Foothills environment.
