Jordan Haynes built an impressive soccer career that took him from youth academies and Canadian national teams to university soccer, a USL PDL championship with Calgary Foothills, and the Canadian Premier League. Today, he is bringing that experience back to the game as a coach.
Jordan began playing soccer at age five with Cavan Maple Leafs in Ontario. He later played with Peterborough City, Whitby and Ajax, represented Ontario at the U14, U15 and U16 levels, and joined Toronto FC Academy in 2011.
His development continued with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, where he joined the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency program after spending time on trial with Queens Park Rangers in England. Jordan progressed through the Whitecaps system, played with the club’s U23 side and, in 2015, became one of the first players signed to the newly created Whitecaps FC 2
Jordan also represented Canada throughout his youth career. He was involved with the Canadian U15, U17 and U20 national-team programs and was part of Canada’s squad at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Earlier that year, he was named to the Best XI at the CONCACAF U-17 Championship.
After his time in the Whitecaps organization, Jordan joined Calgary Foothills FC.
He played a key role on one of the most successful teams in Foothills history, helping the club win the 2018 USL PDL Championship. The national title was a milestone for both Jordan and Foothills and came as the club established itself as one of Canada’s leading player-development environments.
Jordan then returned to British Columbia to play university soccer with the UBC Thunderbirds. In 2019, he played 21 matches for UBC, led the team with seven assists and earned Canada West Second Team All-Star honours. He also helped the Thunderbirds win their third consecutive Canada West championship and advance to the U SPORTS national tournament.
His performance at UBC helped open another door to professional soccer. Jordan signed with Pacific FC of the Canadian Premier League in 2020 and was part of the Pacific squad that won the 2021 Canadian Premier League Championship.
He later played for Valour FC, joining the Winnipeg-based CPL club for the 2023 season and remaining with the team through 2024.
Following his professional playing career, Jordan moved into coaching and player development. He returned to the Vancouver Whitecaps organization, where he serves as an assistant coach with the Whitecaps FC U15 MLS Academy team.
Jordan has also joined the university coaching ranks as an assistant coach with the UBC Thunderbirds women’s soccer program.
It represents a fitting next chapter for a player whose own development included academy soccer, university competition, Foothills, professional soccer and international experience with Canada.
From a young player progressing through Canada’s development system to a national champion with Foothills and Pacific FC, and now a coach helping develop the next generation, Jordan’s soccer journey reflects the kind of pathway Calgary Foothills strives to create for its players.
