Oluwabori “Bori” Falaye was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1998 and raised in Calgary, Alberta. His journey began locally with Calgary Southwest United (SWU), where he first discovered his passion for the game at 13. Within just a few years, his speed and goal-scoring instincts made him one of Calgary’s brightest attacking prospects.

In 2016, Bori joined the University of Calgary Dinos, a move that paired his athletic potential with one of Canada West’s most competitive programs. Bori made an immediate impact, scoring match-winners and multi-goal games in his debut seasons. Reflecting on the decision, he said: “I think the Dinos have a really good program… it’s a really good environment, which will make the transition easier.”

In 2017 and early 2018, Bori suited up for Calgary Foothills FC in the USL Premier Development League (now USL League Two). As a quick, dynamic forward, he contributed to Foothills’ attacking depth during two pivotal seasons under head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. His time with the club provided exposure to a professional-style environment and set the stage for his next step abroad.

His performances with the Dinos and Foothills opened doors abroad. By 2023, Bori had signed with FSV Frankfurt in Germany’s Regionalliga Südwest. He quickly found his footing, writing after one of his early appearances: “Thankful to score my second goal in 3 matches… Glory be to God alone, thank you Jesus.” That gratitude and faith became hallmarks of his personal brand, often reflected in his social media posts.

In 2024, he moved to TSV Aubstadt in Regionalliga Bayern, continuing to refine his attacking game against some of Germany’s toughest semi-professional defenses. His journey then took another major step in 2025, when KF Tirana, the most decorated club in Albania, announced him as their newest signing. The club welcomed him as “a value add” for their title ambitions, recognizing his international experience in Germany.

Bori’s career is also a story of perseverance. From Calgary’s grassroots to the professional ranks in Europe, he has navigated the challenges of adapting to new cultures and styles of play. His moves across Germany and Albania highlight his resilience and ability to seize opportunities when they arise. The YYC Soccer Podcast summed it up best: “Bori has played for several teams in Europe, including clubs in Portugal and Germany, prior to moving to Albania.”

Bori’s career trajectory highlights the growing global opportunities available to Canadian-developed players. His milestones—from scoring decisive goals in Canada West play, to finding the net in Germany, to stepping onto the pitch with KF Tirana—illustrate a player constantly seeking the next challenge.
