Victor Loturi was born in Calgary in 2001. He grew up in playing for the city’s Northside Soccer Club before advancing to the Calgary Foothills Generation Program. He signed with Cavalry FC in 2019 as the club’s youngest player. Head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. spotted the maturity in his game early: “He’s a quality young player… plays the game with such maturity and finesse far beyond his years.”
Victor’s debut season with Cavalry coincided with the Canadian Premier League’s launch. He spent 2019 learning the professional game, then made his true breakout in 2021 with 27 appearances and two goals. His performances earned him a nomination for the CPL U-21 Canadian Player of the Year, and Wheeldon Jr. offered a memorable compliment: “Two-thirds of the world is covered in water, the rest by Victor Loturi.”
In 2022, his hard work paid off with a move abroad. Scottish Premiership side Ross County signed him on a six-figure transfer. Victor quickly adjusted, scoring his first goal for the club just a week after his debut. Over three seasons in Scotland, he amassed more than 80 appearances and proved himself as a reliable, versatile midfielder.
Victor’s success in Scotland caught the attention of Canada’s national team. In 2023, he earned his first call-up and debut at the CONCACAF Gold Cup against Cuba. He framed the moment with humility and ambition: “I think right now is the golden generation of the Canadian national team… just trying to crack that squad is the biggest thing for me.”
By January 2025, Victor had taken the next leap, signing with CF Montréal in Major League Soccer. He scored his first MLS goal in 2025 to the delight of fans and supporters’ groups online.
Through each stage of his career, Victor Loturi has carried with him the lessons of family and sacrifice: “I’ve seen what they go through… it makes me think about what they do and just letting them down.” That grounding, combined with his growing experience in Canada, Scotland, and MLS, has shaped him into one of the country’s most promising midfielders, a player equally defined by resilience as by skill.
