Something Exciting is Coming to Foothills

At Foothills, we are always looking for new ways to strengthen the experience we create for our players, families, and communities. That is why we are excited to share that something (someone?) new has joined the Club: a mascot who will help us bring even more energy, connection, and memorable moments to the Foothills experience.

This initiative is about more than adding excitement to events. It is about helping us deliver on an important part of our Club mandate: creating memorable experiences for the children and families we serve. From Grassroots festivals and matchdays to community events and special events, our mascot will help turn everyday interactions into lasting memories for our members.

It will also help us deepen our presence in the Calgary communities we serve. Foothills is proud to be part of so many neighbourhoods across the city, and this new addition gives us another way to support them in a fun, visible, and meaningful way.

Just as importantly, this initiative will help build even more Club pride and culture across all levels of Foothills. We want this to become something our members recognize as part of the Club’s identity, something that adds spirit to events, brings people together, and creates a stronger sense of belonging throughout the Foothills family.

Why A Bear?

As Technical Director Greg de Carnys explains, the Club carefully considered a wide range of ideas before landing on the bear.

“We wanted something that would connect with both younger and older audiences, reflect our Club and our region, and feel true to who we are at Foothills. As we narrowed it down, we kept coming back to an animal that is part of the foothills and mountain region, and one that felt strong and memorable. The bear had the strongest support and felt like the right fit for our identity and values.”

Our New Foothills Family Member Needs A Name

We are inviting players, families, supporters, and community members to take part in our Name the Mascot campaign.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MAY 24!

We are looking for a name that is fun, memorable, family-friendly, and full of Foothills spirit.

Once entries are in, we will then shortlist the selections to the Top 5 and then invite everyone to vote but you must follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, or X) to stay part of the journey.

The winning entry will receive a club jersey with the bear’s name, a keepsake that will mark an important day in Foothills’ history.

This is just the beginning, and we cannot wait to reveal more. Get involved in welcoming our newest member. Submit a name and then follow us on Social.
