Anti-Doping Policy
The Calgary Foothills Soccer Club fully supports the anti-doping initiatives of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, (CCES) and its Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP), Canada Soccer, the Alberta Soccer Association, and FIFA.
Club coaches and administrators are encouraged to bring the topic of doping and ethical sport into team conversations and monitor overall behaviours.
Alberta Soccer Association Weather Policy
The safety of players, coaches, management, and spectators is the primary concern in any weather event that occurs during all matches sanctioned by the CSA. By understanding and following the referenced information, the safety of everyone shall be greatly increased. Ultimately, the referee has the final say over delaying or restarting a match due to weather. Waiting to stop playing or not waiting to start playing may result in a serious injury or loss of life. Referees are expected to act responsibly when dealing with such events during matches they are controlling.
Air Quality Guidelines
When hazy conditions due to the wildfires occur, in our province, be sure you are aware of the Alberta Soccer Air Quality Monitoring guidelines.
If the air quality health index (AQHI) is ‘7’ or higher, games/practices should be delayed or rescheduled.
Please monitor conditions here: http://airquality.alberta.ca/map/
Games
If the affiliated member has not canceled games in advance, all teams and match officials should arrive ready to play. If the AQHI is at “7” at the next calculation, the match official should consider delaying or canceling the game. If the game is canceled, it is required to write on the game sheet the reason for abandonment with Index Calculation, time, date, and AQHI station used.
Practices
If the AQHI is “3” or below, continue with training as normal.
If the AQHI is “4-6,” adjust practice by doing the following:
- Reducing intensity
- Reducing the duration
- Provide resting periods
If the AQHI is “7” or above, practices should be rescheduled.
Bullying Policy
At Calgary Foothills Soccer Club, we take bullying and harassment of any kind very seriously. Our mandate is to provide the best soccer experience for every child in our program and we strive to create a caring, friendly, safe and harassment-free sports environment.
If any type of bullying or harassment is reported, the Club will investigate in a prompt, objective and sensitive manner, take necessary corrective action, and provide appropriate support for victims. We want to ensure that no individual is penalized for making a complaint or giving evidence in a bullying or harassment investigation.
Code of Conduct for Coaches, Players, and Parents
We place great importance on maintaining our Club’s reputation as an inclusive and immersive organization for everyone. We expect all members of the Foothills family to help us uphold that reputation and our values and always act to best represent “The Foothills Way.”
In that spirit, all parents, players, and coaches must sign and agree to the “Club Code of Conduct for Coaches, Players, and Parents” before each season.
Code of Conduct To Protect Children
The Calgary Foothills Soccer Club has developed the following “Code of Conduct to Protect Children” to guide our employees and volunteers in their interactions with children. The safety, rights, and well-being of the children we serve are at the core of our daily programs. We nurture supportive relationships with children while balancing and encouraging appropriate boundaries.
Our Club is committed to ensuring all children are protected and safe. The Code of Conduct to Protect Children is an important part of creating safe environments for children. The safety, rights and well-being of children participating in CMSA programs is a priority in our daily operations.
This Code of Conduct to Protect Children aligns to the “Commit to Kids: Sport Edition” – a supplementary resource of the “Commit To Kids” program that helps child-serving organizations reduce the risk of sexual abuse and create safer environments for children in their care. The objective of developing and implementing such a Code of Conduct is to help increase the safety of the children involved in CMSA organizations and clubs. The Code of Conduct to Protect Children serves to establish boundaries for all Team Officials, Managers, Coaches, and Volunteers of CMSA interacting with children, assist individuals in identifying concerning behaviour, and clarify the steps they should take to address such behaviour.
Concussion Protocol
Our players’ safety is a top concern for everyone at Foothills. If a concussion is suspected, we follow the Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport. The Guide was developed to ensure that athletes with a suspected concussion receive timely and appropriate care, and proper management to allow them to return to their sport. It addresses seven key areas:
- Pre-season education
- Head injury recognition
- Onsite medical assessment
- Medical assessment
- Concussion management
- Multidisciplinary concussion care
- Return to sport
Funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, this guideline is an important part of the Parachute-led Concussion Protocol Harmonization Project and creates the foundation for a more consistent approach to concussion across the country.
Grassroots Rain Out Procedure
- Check the Field Status on the Website
- The Calgary Foothills Soccer Club updates its website with Field Status information daily at 4:30 p.m. If the Field Status indicates that fields are open for games and practices, Coaches and Teams are expected to adhere to their scheduled games. If the fields are closed, Coaches and Teams are directed to cancel their scheduled games in accordance with the outlined procedures.
- Field Status at Kick-Off Time
- The weather in Calgary can be volatile, so the conditions at kick-off time may deviate from the current conditions. Unless there is heavy rain or thunder and lightning, the game will typically go ahead. As there are no “make-up games” at the Grassroots level, we aim to give the children as many opportunities to play as possible throughout the season.
- Cancelling a Game – Coach Communication
- In the event that the weather necessitates the cancellation of your game, contact the coach of the team you’re scheduled to play. Upon confirmation of the cancellation, notify your players via the access given to you as a coach by Foothills. Additionally, Foothills will send a mass email to all parents informing them of the cancellation.
- Cancelling a Game – Parent/Players Communication
- By accessing the website database with the coaches’ credentials, contact information for the team’s parents and players can be obtained. For the purpose of informing them of the game cancellation, a general email should be sent out to the team. However, it may be necessary to contact them directly via phone to ensure they have received the message. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to establish a protocol for notifying the parents and players of any cancellations at the start of the season. Furthermore, they should be informed that if they have not heard from the coach, they should assume the game is taking place and proceed to the field.
Incident Report Form
The Calgary Foothills Soccer Club takes all incidents, including accidents in parking lots, unruly sidelines, physical or verbal confrontations between coaches, players, or spectators, confrontations directed at referees or tournament officials, theft or vandalism, seriously and requests that they be reported immediately through the completion of this Incident Report form. By submitting this form, individuals are assisting the Club in its efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and spectators, as well as preventing potential insurance claims or lawsuits.
Player Placement Appeals
We value all of our players and understand that it can be difficult to accept placement decisions, so we take every appeal seriously and strive to provide the best possible outcome for all. Parents/guardians of players who wish to appeal their child’s placement on a team can do so by:
Submitting a completed Player Placement Appeal Form to admin@gofoothills.ca; or
Dropping a completed Player Placement Appeal Form off at the Macron Performance Centre located at 111 Exploration Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta.
All appeals will be carefully reviewed and processed before the season starts, and the results will be communicated to parents by email. Please note that no telephone calls will be accepted regarding appeals.
Appeals will be accepted until April 22, 2026.
