Jamieson Sawka serves as Director of Performance at Calgary Foothills Soccer Club, where he leads the club’s performance department and works closely with coaches, sports science staff, and players to support athlete development across the Foothills pathway.
Born and raised in Calgary, Jamieson played his entire youth soccer career in the city before beginning his coaching journey at the age of 17. He joined Foothills in 2012 as a volunteer coach and has since grown through a number of roles within the organization, including Grassroots Coordinator, Academy Coach, Performance Manager, and most recently Director of Performance.
Jamieson oversees the integration of performance analysis, sports science, and player monitoring within the club’s development environment. He works closely with technical staff to ensure players receive the physical, tactical, and educational support needed to reach their potential while maintaining a healthy, sustainable training load.
Jamieson has played a central role in modernizing the club’s performance systems, helping to introduce European-inspired player-tracking methods and developing a comprehensive video-analysis program used by players and coaches throughout the club. These tools allow athletes to better understand their performances, reflect on decision-making within matches, and track their progress over time.
His work in this area has also been recognized beyond the club environment. Jamieson has supported Cavalry FC during pre-season preparations and continues to contribute to initiatives that bridge the gap between youth development and professional-level performance environments.
Alongside his work in performance analysis, Jamieson collaborates with the club’s sports science and medical partners to deliver programs focused on injury prevention, workload monitoring, and long term athletic development. Through initiatives such as performance testing, video analysis sessions, and athlete education, the department aims to provide Foothills players with many of the same tools used in professional academies.
+++Jamieson’s coaching credentials include a Canada Soccer C Licence and Canada Soccer Youth Licence. He also holds a Bachelor of Criminal Justice (Honours) from Mount Royal University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary, an academic background that complements his coaching by strengthening his ability to teach, mentor, and communicate with young athletes.+++
Before working full time in soccer, Jamieson gained valuable experience developing sport and recreation curriculum with YMCA Calgary, designing programs in soccer, basketball, and multi sport development. This experience continues to influence his approach to athlete education and performance programming within the Foothills environment.
