Greg de Carnys joined Calgary Foothills in 2024 and quickly became a key architect of the Club’s long-term player development model. Initially appointed Girls Academy Manager, he now serves as Technical Director, guiding the Club’s football philosophy from grassroots through Pro-Am.

Greg brings over two decades of experience in elite youth development across Europe, Asia, and North America. He holds a UEFA A License, a degree in Coaching Science, and a Masters in Sports Science, combining strong academic foundations with extensive on-field expertise.

Before moving to Canada, Greg spent eight years on the Academy Management Team at the West Ham United Category 1 Academy, where he helped oversee three successful Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) audits and worked closely with some of the Premier League’s top young talents. He has coached youth players at Arsenal and Tottenham, gained senior-team experience with Watford in the English Championship, and served as Head Coach of West Ham United Women.

Greg’s international résumé also includes leading roles as Academy Director at FC Kosice in Slovakia and Academy Manager at Visakha FC in Cambodia, where he was part of the club’s long-term development vision. He later worked as an Elite Coaching Consultant with GIBPRO in Gibraltar, designing CPD programs for coaches and individual development camps for academy players.

Across these environments, Greg has managed and mentored staff and players at every stage of the pathway. He has supported the development of players who have gone on to compete in the English Premier League, LaLiga, and the Bundesliga and most recently the Northern Super League and Canadian Premier League, with combined transfer values reported at more than $350 million CAD.

At Foothills, Greg leads the Club’s technical direction and remains hands-on with key initiatives. He plays a central role in the Club’s Women in Sport and TELUS She CAN Coach initiatives, helping to create more opportunities for girls and women to play, coach, and lead.

Greg is committed to high standards on the pitch and a people-first, mentorship-driven culture off it. Calgary and Foothills, he often notes, attract hungry, high-potential players and his goal is to ensure they have a world-class environment in which to grow.
