CALGARY, AB: June 28, 2025 – It was a night of vindication for our Calgary Foothills FC team in Edmonton on Friday as they went head-to-head with league-leading Edmonton BTB and brought home three points.
The women’s match, scheduled for 5 p.m., was unfortunately cancelled due to severe weather conditions. The WFC squad remains at the top of the League1 standings, with St. Albert Impact and Calgary Blizzard nipping at their heels.
FC Bests League Leaders 1-0
On the men’s side, FC delivered a determined 1-0 victory in a hard-fought contest. Jamie Nicholson provided the game winner early in the first half, while Sam Diltz earned a clean sheet with an outstanding performance in goal. Robert Woodroffe Brown led the line brilliantly in the front, helping to drive the attack throughout the match.
Head Coach Connor Brady praised the team’s collective effort. “It was a fantastic, united performance by all. Our work rate and movement off the ball were exceptional, as was our willingness to engage. It was a great example of pulling together and doing things for one another. We have proven that we are still in this and will fight to the end of the season. BTB is a well-organized, tough team, so we are proud of tonight’s outcome.”
The win was not enough to knock BTB from its spot at the top of the ladder with 18 points. St. Albert Impact and Calgary Rangers are tied for second with 17 points each. FC is sitting right behind at 16. The men’s division remains a tough race, heightening the excitement levels for our upcoming games.
