Eva Kiryakos is an accomplished legal professional with experience in both private practice and in-house at organizations where she has provided strategic legal advice to leadership.  Throughout her career, Eva has demonstrated a strong ability to manage complex legal challenges across multiple public and private sectors.

After earning first an Honours undergraduate degree in Political Studies, a High Honours Certificate in International Studies, and then her LLB from the University of Saskatchewan, Eva began her career with the Department of Justice gaining invaluable experience in government legal matters. Following this, she worked in private law firms, gaining experience in criminal law, wills and estates, and commercial law.

Eva then transitioned to work in-house with various companies embedded with their operational and leadership teams. She has worked as a legal advisor for a junior Alberta oil and gas company, where she navigated the complex legal landscape of the energy sector. Thereafter she was hired as General Counsel for an international hospitality company that has renowned hotel and restaurant operations located in Canada, the United States, Ireland, and the UK.  In that role, Eva oversaw legal matters for iconic brands such as Moxie’s, Shark Club, and Chop restaurants. This role gave her a deep understanding of the legal complexities and business demands of large-scale operations, with a focus on commercial leases and franchise agreements.

Eva returned to work in the public sector as Commercial Counsel in the a legal department for Alberta Health Services, Canada’s then largest health organization employing over 100,000 people. In that role she provided legal support to a wide variety of departments including those responsible for contracting and procurement, corporate, real estate/construction, clinical and audit.

Eva has focused her time and attention in recent years on raising a family with 3 children aged 11, 9 and 3 years who are involved in a variety of activities and pursuits, including soccer, basketball, robotics, and piano. Two of her children play soccer with Foothills. She also volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance, offering pro bono legal support in immigration law.

Eva is excited about becoming part of the Board for Foothills where she can contribute her years of experience working with other diverse teams to optimize the future growth and success of Foothills and help make soccer a fun and rewarding experience for all players.
