Foothills Alumni Accolades: Pro Signings, National Team Call-Ups, and Overseas Moves

Foothills takes immense pride in the players who have worn our crest and gone on to compete at the highest levels of the game. As alumni progress into professional environments around the world, their journeys continue to inspire the next generation and reflect the strength of our pathway.

Below is a quick alumni update celebrating seven recent milestones (listed alphabetically by surname). Want to see more Foothills players making their mark around the world? Visit our Alumni Wall.

Tanya Boychuk

Tanya Boychuk continues to rise on the international stage. After competing with Foothills WFC in the UWS (2019), she has built an impressive career that has included NCAA success at the University of Memphis and strong European spells in Iceland and Sweden.

Now with Montréal Roses FC, Tanya has earned a call-up to the Ukraine Women’s National Team, joining the squad for preparation matches in Spain.

Emily Burns

Congratulations to Emily Burns on being named to Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team roster for the 2026 SheBelieves Cup.

A goalkeeper with deep Alberta roots and strong Foothills ties, Emily is currently with FC Nantes and has continued to earn opportunities through professionalism, performances, and persistence.

Seeing a Foothills-developed player selected for a major international window is a proud moment for our club and community.

Mya Jones

We are proud to celebrate Mya Jones, who has signed with Calgary Wild FC, bringing her journey full circle back to her hometown.

Mya’s path has already included major milestones, from standout NCAA recognition (including a place on the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list) to being selected by San Diego Wave FC in the NWSL Draft, and a season with AFC Toronto in the Northern Super League.

From Foothills to the pro stage, and now back to Calgary, this is what opportunity looks like and we cannot wait to see what’s next.

James McGlinchey

James McGlinchey continues to represent the Foothills pathway at the highest level. After progressing through the Club’s system and into the Cavalry FC environment, he signed an Exceptional Young Talent (EYT) professional contract with them.

He has also earned a call-up to Canada Soccer’s Men’s U-20 National Team for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers.

In Canada’s tournament opener, James was named in the match squad where Canada defeated the U.S. Virgin Islands 14–0.

Bianca Patik

Foothills alum Bianca Patik has also taken her game to the international stage. Bianca played with Foothills from 2014 to 2023 and was a key part of our 2008 Girls program.

Bianca is making her debut for the Czech U19 Women’s National Team. It’s an exciting achievement and a reflection of the dedication, consistency, and growth Bianca has shown throughout her years in the game.

Congratulations, Bianca!

Emma Schneider and Myla Schneider

Sisters Emma Schneider and Myla Schneider were part of the Foothills WFC League1 Alberta (now the Alberta Premier League) group in 2025, contributing in key moments as WFC pushed through an exciting season. Myla delivered a decisive assist in a critical win over Edmonton BTB, while Emma was on the scoresheet in multiple matches, including the regular season finale.

Now, both have taken the next step overseas, joining SC Rio Tinto in Portugal, continuing their development in the European game.

Abby Steen

Another Foothills alum to sign professionally is Abby Steen. Abby recently joined FHL WFC in Iceland.

From her time with Foothills WFC in League1 and UWS to taking the next step into the professional game, this is an incredible milestone and a testament to her hard work, commitment, and growth within the program.

Abby says, “I am very grateful for my time with the Foothills WFC League1 and UWS teams. The coaches helped push me to constantly improve by setting high standards, providing opportunities to compete with and against the best players possible, and promoting a competitive yet fun environment. The professionalism within the Foothills program has supported my transition to professional soccer, and I am thankful for the support that they have given me!”
