Foothills and the TELUS She CAN Coach Program: February 2025 Update

Over the past few weeks, our Telus She CAN Coach candidates have had the opportunity to learn from top experts in the field, gaining valuable insights to enhance their coaching knowledge and support their athletes more effectively.

On January 24, we hosted a talk by Carla Van Den Berg on Understanding the Menstrual Cycle and Its Effect on Female Athlete Health and Performance. This session encouraged our female coaches to reflect on how the menstrual cycle impacts their athletes’ well-being and performance, equipping them with knowledge to better support player development.

In addition, Foothills Head of Sports Science, Chase Wetherell, led a session on Sports Science and Soccer. This provided our candidates with a deeper understanding of how their coaching can align with physical preparation and long-term athlete development. It also introduced sports science as a potential career path, broadening their perspectives on opportunities in the field.

Other modules will be announced soon including:

  • Performance Analysis in Soccer
  • Media & Marketing in Soccer

We are also excited to launch the first in a series of interviews with each of our candidates, giving us the chance to get to know them better, hear about their journey, and learn about their aspirations through the program!  You can find candidate Layla Hall’s interview by clicking here.

We are truly passionate about the TELUS She CAN Coach program as a club, and we are committed to ensuring that our candidates receive the best possible learning experience to set them up for a potential career in soccer.
