CALGARY, AB – Calgary Foothills FC and WFC teams are on the road this Friday, June 27, as they head north to face Edmonton BTB at the Jasper Place Bowl. Fans can expect two high-stakes matches as league standings tighten and playoff implications loom. The action kicks off with WFC at 5:00 p.m., followed by the FC men at 7:30 p.m.
WFC Looks to Strengthen Its Hold on the Top of the Standings
WFC enters the match riding high after a recent win that cemented their spot at the top of the standings. With momentum on their side, the team is eager to keep its winning streak alive against an ambitious Edmonton BTB side, currently sitting in 4th place.
Head Coach Lee Tucker recognizes that BTB is a danger to FC’s position in the standings. “BTB is a young, dynamic, attack-minded team, and we know that this will be another tough road trip. They are well-coached and have lots of potential within their group, with players such as Hayden Thomas, Makenna Van Der Veen, and Tara Simonot all posing threats. “
“We are coming off the back of a good win against St.Albert. Kendall Showers scored a great goal in that game, and we are looking to maintain that run while keeping things tight defensively under the leadership of Amelia Russo and Jayden Berg. We are looking forward to Friday.”
FC Faces Must-Win Clash
For FC, Friday’s matchup presents a crucial opportunity to shift the narrative. Coming off a tough stretch, the squad is determined to bounce back with a solid performance against BTB. Watch for a strong physical presence defensively and composure in possession from our players, including Caden Rogozinski and Max Bodurtha, who have delivered reliably in these areas throughout the season.
“We are looking forward to playing BTB, who are at the top of the men’s standings”, said Head Coach Connor Brady. “We have left points on the table in some crucial matches up until now, and Friday will be about proving to ourselves that we are a top team in this league and that we have the ability to make some statements down the closing stretch of the season.”
