CALGARY, AB: May 10, 2025 –
It was a hard-fought evening for Calgary Foothills FC and WFC squads who took to the pitch Friday night against a strong Calgary Blizzard side. Despite back-to-back losses, both teams demonstrated resilience and determination. Final score for WFC was 1-0. FC fell in the second game 2-0.
WFC opened the doubleheader with an intense matchup that saw them control much of the 90 minutes. Despite creating several high-quality chances in the first half, the team went into halftime locked at 0-0. In the second half, WFC continued to press, but it was the Blizzard who managed to find the back of the net and secure the 1-0 win.
Head Coach Lee Tucker was optimistic about the team’s performance. “We created some fantastic chances and showed real quality in the first half. It’s tough not to be rewarded on the scoreboard, but I’m proud of the fight our players showed. This group is growing, and we’re excited about what’s to come.”
Anika Odinga impressed in her first match, while midfielders Jayden Berg and Grace Hannaford were workhorses in the middle of the pack. Avril Jamieson continued her consistent form, narrowly missing on several opportunities and keeping the Blizzard defense working hard throughout the match. With new players expected to join the squad in the coming weeks, WFC looks forward to building on the positives and strengthening the roster as the season unfolds.

FC faced adversity early in both halves and experienced a 2-0 defeat. The team went down a player early in each half, which the seasoned and well-coached Blizzard side capitalized on. Despite the numerical disadvantage, FC showed grit and battled until the final whistle, ultimately falling 2-0.
Head Coach Connor Brady commended his squad’s resilience. “We faced a lot of adversity tonight with two send-offs, but the group stuck together and fought to the end. We’re trending in the right direction, and we’ll use this as an opportunity to reflect, re-evaluate, and be better prepared for our next outing.”
Foothills FC and WFC will focus on development as both squads prepare for their upcoming matches. They will meet Edmonton Scottish on May 16 at the Edmonton Soccer Dome. WFC game time is 5:00 p.m. FC hit the pitch at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
